Power Outage Disrupts Airport Operations in Spain and Portugal

On the morning of April 28, a large-scale power outage affected the Iberian Peninsula and parts of France, causing major disruptions, especially at airports and across transportation and communication infrastructure.

Lisbon Airport in Portugal was temporarily closed to all arriving flights due to the outage. Authorities announced that limited landings would resume starting at 2:30 PM local time.

In Spain, Madrid Barajas Airport reduced its landing capacity from 60 to 20 landings per hour, while Barcelona El Prat Airport also reported a 50% reduction in landings.

Local officials reported disruptions to metro lines and significant issues with transportation and communication systems. Power supply is gradually being restored, though the exact cause of the outage is still under investigation.
